Astral projection last night

So, I have done a lot of astral projection in the past but I've not been able to for a long time. This morning I went out of my body many times, it was extremely relieving. Most of the experiences faded into dreams very quickly. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how to keep my awareness and keep the experience from going to dreams?
They were pretty much fun projections very cryptic I haven't been able to decode them yet.
