Angel1 I heart ginger!!!!

Right, I am a student in holistic therapies and my essencial oil of the week would have to be Ginger!! It is the comfort of my life ginger, fav spice, fav flour, fav biscuits, fav drink and is the colour of my sons hair so I love to rave about it! It is a warming and stimulating oil that helps the circulation, digestive system and warns away the winter blues, I did a fantastic blend on a fellow student with sweet almond as my carrier and using drops of lemongrass and geranium which worked well and she had a great sense of warmth and well being. It is also good for travel sickness as well- I have been informed that it can be used on a tissue for morning sickness BUT would always advise to speak to a fully trained therapist! I would suggest if you have senstive skin then use no more than a couple of drops in bath or for massage. This oil will warm and stenghten the emotions if feeling a little bit low!

That's quite interesting, I've recently been drinking fresh ginger juice for stomach issues. And I love the smell of it, too.

How/where do you learn to combine all these different healing things? Do you use fresh ginger, lemon grass, etc. or do they all come in little bottles? It sounds like something I'd enjoy learning.

Angel1

I am learning complementary therapies and aromatherapy is one of my subject! I learn blending oils from this course and we use high graded extract oils- fancy term for proffesional! Before I stared I had gained a few oils and had been using them on my skin and puting them in my bath!! I was doing wrong, any oils should be combined and mixed with a carrier oil such as sweet almond and grapeseed oil and ONLY a 2-4 drops of one oil and then 2 drops of another couple of oils depending on blend before you put on skin! You should do it, I can sense a keen interest you have, find your local collage and look for HNC or certificates in aromatherapy!! It has changed my out look on self healing! Stick with your ginger as well, I love it!

I'm a fan of ginger too, and forever a student/practitioner of aromatherapy...I just love it.

Ginger helps with seasickness, too.
Well, it doesn't help me, as I get really quite severe seasickness, but if you're only mildly seasick, I've heard it works quite well.

If you want a rub to soothe body inflammation you can try blending ginger, eucalyptus and Japanese peppermint essential oils with a Benzoin base note in sweet almond or grapeseed oil. Grapeseed is nice because it won't stain your sheets! I like about 10 mL of carrier oil for 40-50 drops of essential oil, max. Your school probably has other recipes, though.

Enjoy your ginger and your studies! :)
If you're like me, your fridge will soon be overtaken with oak boxes and boxes of oils!
