Being taken over by spirit

Does anyone have any experience of seeing someone being taken over by a spirit, and what method can be used in order to get the spirit to leave?

In my experience it sounds like the person you are talking needs to ground their Spiritual Energy and learn how to discipline theirselves when in contact with Spirit as they could end up getting into difficulty and maybe even danger as they are obviously leaving theirselves wide open to be taken over by Spirit, I would like to say they are but not all Spirits are good and and it only takes mischief to take over the person and then they will definitely be in all sorts of danger to themselves and others, please ask this person to go to a Spiritualist Church and get the advice and help that they need.
Trance is one of the most beautiful things to see and my friend is a great Tance Medium who works up and down the Uk , but you must get help in learning how to control it.

OK.

I have very little expert knowledge of this - but have a lot of first hand experience. My boy experiences this on many occasions. When asleep he may 'leave the building' Elvis-style and be replaced by a spirit who proceeds to either speak in some odd language I am unfamiliar with, move him about (sitting up, looking around even though my boy has his eyes closed), or even speak directly to me. I have spoken to my boy about this - he knows it happens - though is not aware of it when it does. It is only when I tell him when he wakes up that he becomes aware. He has no memory of what happens to him. He usually gets annoyed and complains that the spirits are doing it because 'they have nothing better to do'. He is never harmed and I do not ever feel scared - thought I must confess it is a bit freaky. He has never given me any direct advice about what to do in these circumstances - and perhaps I should ask him - but how I manage it is like this: I do not get afraid. I know that whatever is in him is divine. I allow it to play out. I do not try to wake him at any point. If he moves about I simply make sure he does not walk into anything or get himself into any danger. If he appears to be distressed in this state I simply speak to him in a soothing voice assuring him it's OK. I also place my hand on his chest or back to generate healing energy between us. On the odd occasion I have curtly insisted that whoever or whatever it is had better behave and look after my boy. He usually wakes up on his own with no knowledge of what has been happening for the last half hour.

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate protocol for these situations. Maybe someone else does know. But I have never experienced a problem handling it this way. I will make it a project to speak to him about this in more detail.

Take care.

Thanks for all of your replies. The reason I ask is that there is someone in my development circle who keeps having this happen to him, virtually every time he goes. He is obviously wide open somehow - maybe a 'hole' in his aura? (so I've read on the net). He also has a fairly negative spirit occupying his house that is interfering with his family (consisting of 3 or 4 teenagers as well as him & his wife, i believe). Although the circle leader is protecting him whilst he's there, and stepping in when she sees it happening to him, I just think there could be more that he needs to do HIMSELF in order to prevent it, and maybe something we could do as a group to help? She can't be watching him the whole time, either.

It got me thinking too, because I saw him whilst he had been taken over on Friday, and it was really odd to witness. He often gets extreme body pain whilst this happens too. I'm not nearly at the stage where I could help him myself, but it just provoked some thought in me for the future, and also on possible suggestions I could make?

This is my opinion and i don't have much experience in this area, but the fundemental question I would be asking myself would be - are these spirits seperate from me or are they in fact part of my self, seeing no distinction between the inner and outer gives greater freedom to heal those dark parts of myself that need to be healed i find - I cannot be frightened of myself after all, no matter how dark it gets in fact the darker it gets the more i am challenged to love and forgive and have compassion for those aspects I have judged and neglected for too long. I hope this makes sense?

In certain religious circles, this sort of activity would be considered "possession", and would require the ministrations of someone familiar with casting out unwanted spirits. Typically this practice is done using tools like specific prayer, oils that have been consecrated for 'holy' purposes, worship, etc.

If I were sitting face to face with the person who was being taken over by an unwanted spirit, here is what I would advise them.

First of all, I would advise them to immediately stop all sorts of spiritual practices that would (perhaps inadvertantly) be opening them up to such an invastion - such as 'mediumship'. I'm also very much an anti-ouiji board person, and advise against practicing any of the black arts. (Even the "white" arts might be put aside for awhile, so that the person could ground and reconnect).

I would renounce that practice of allowing any spirit but my own and Godd's to be in my body. I would counsel asking for Divine protection of my spiritual and physical existance, including asking the angels to protect me. Perhaps visualizing Godd's unconditional love and energy surrounding the person every morning upon wakening would be a good step.

I would speak directly to the spirit and tell them that they have no right of entry into my body. And I would take energetic inventory. Am I walking in fear? Anger? Unforgiveness? Have I opened any karmic "causes" that I am now receiving the the effects from?

It might be helpful to go back to the first time this possession happened, and review what transpired just before hand. What did your friend say or participate in?

Unfortunately, many people are enticed into certain spiritual practices without having the tools and knowledge necessary to protect themselves. This can open them up to all sorts of plaguing by lower spirits. If there are 'elders' or others in your particular spiritual community that may have more experience with this, it might be a good idea to ask them for advice and help.
