Being called A Buddha

“Thus Gotama [Buddha] walked toward the town to gather alms, and the two samanas recognized him solely by the perfection of his repose, by the calmness of his figure, in which there was no trace of seeking, desiring, imitating, or striving, only light and peace”

― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

“There is a simple way to become buddha: When you refrain from unwholesome actions, are not attached to birth and death, and are compassionate toward all sentient beings, respectful to seniors and kind to juniors, not excluding or desiring anything, with no designing thoughts or worries, you will be called a buddha. Do not seek anything else.”

― Dōgen, Moon In a Dewdrop: Writings of Zen Master Dogen

A simple little thing Buddha taught was to not have the attention in mind, in form, in conceptual mental based reality. Obviously we still experience through the six senses, but this whole mental world is put to the side.

Now as beings used to ALWAYS being in mind, as always looking though mind, always interpreting whatever the six senses are perceiving in words, such a simple thing then becomes extraordinarily complex.

The mind "digs in" really and fights to keep being the center or main go to reference point of the entity, the "hat" one can never see clearly enough to put to the side or to take off, to stop identifying with. So begins the struggle. So begins the invention of religion and practices and judgement and all of that. All a result of failed attempts at dislodging from mentally interpreted experience.

When the Buddha's message is heard, to put thought to the side, thought becomes the authority on how this will come about and how it will be known. One sets up self or me as thought, as this interpretative function of the brain.

So this is Buddha's message. A very simple message to beings that can't figure out how to realize the message. They can't figure it out as they know of no other way to be than to be interpreting now though thought, through form, through interpretation.

Every single thing posted on these forums will be read and interpreted. It doesn't really matter what "truths" or "untruths" one's mind comes up with after reading, while reading, all the sentences our mind comes up with after reading the sentences someone else has posted, as to realize what Buddha said, means one believes none of it, not because it is false or un-true, but because it is optional reality that is put to the side when it is not needed, and it is vary rarely needed. What is the realty or meaning in a bunch of words? The words we read or the words we respond with? The perfect peace of this moment is disturbed by this box of ideas we spend so much time in. One may discover a noisy bird in our room was never a problem, as we were creating it, conjuring it up from nothing, and once we know this, it disappears.
