The gist of Christianity is to achieve a clear conscience and a peaceful and happy soul. The mind does not really come into the equation. Christians believe that reality goes deeper than the mind; it goes right down to the depths of your conscience and soul. The mind helps us navigate through reality.

To a Christian a peaceful mind does not equal a peaceful soul or a clear conscience either. A peaceful mind is too shallow.

A relationship with Christ clears the conscience and saves the soul from misery. You can keep the mind while this is happening.

The East & West are really very different.
