Re Perspective: Oh those are some great songs from the Forrest Gump movie - I like the 'California Dreaming' one (I think that's the one they played when he was in Vietnam). I used to listen to a number of Vietnam War era songs.

Regarding the Sound of Music - there is some truth to that movie. There is a book by the WWI U-Boat officer von der Tann (I think that is it), upon which the naval officer in the movie was based.

Not too long ago - I was watching Grease and they were singing that 'tell me more - tell me more' song...but then I had to go because I was going out to eat...was a bit bummed.

I never saw Mama Mia...but I did see Saturday Night Fever and thought that was a good movie.

Re Chrysaetos: I really like the Gladiator movie too. That movie has a nice score.

Never saw The Illusionist...but saw all three of the PotC movies (and of course my favorite character is Capt. Jack Sparrow ).

O-oh. Quentin Tarantino's movies have excellent soundtracks - albeit the movies are far too violent for my taste. =)

Aaaaaah! Clint Mansell is a master. Not just Requiem for a Dream - his soundtrack for The Fountain is positively magnificent and moving. (Of course, Aronofsky is brilliant as well!)

From The Fountain:

I also like what Tyler Bates did with 300 and Watchmen. (Another great composer/director pair with Zack Snyder.)

Mothwing - I guess you have to see the whole movie to understand that. It was a bit too 'out there' for me.

Squatch - I think it's nice to get a CD - and listen to the music, and not the movie...so that you're not 'watching' the movie while you listen to the music...if you understand what I mean.

This is another soundtrack that I think is neat - a very dark one though, but neat nonetheless:

House on Haunted Hill - Main Title:
