I have no idea why I am here or what my purpose is. If a purpose is ascertained by an individual. surely such a person has contrived that purpose themselves. Does that then make it a real purpose or a percieved purpose ?

Hi Neville,

I think purpose is purpose...we are co-creators. Why would a purpose we propose be less of a purpose?

I agree that we are co-creators and that we create purpose but when people talk about purpose here, I think they are referring to either "God's" purpose for them or some purpose they worked out with themselves before incarnating.
That is perceived IMO and I think is what Neville is referring to.

Yes, you're right WS. I guess the first time I learned that I had any purpose here is when I was shown I had agreed to be born to a certain family. God was grateful to me and I suppose it was a mutual decision/purpose. I wonder if we can really draw firm distinctions between our purpose and God's? After all, God gifted us with the free will to make decisions based on our own intentions/desires...so that was God's will first.

Anyway, I suppose it's "splittin' hairs". Bottom line for me is that I get to make decisions and I hope I make wise ones...like getting off this forum and doing the things I promised to do.

Hello gentledove, and everyone else.

I might have misunderstood the OPs question, I thought we were searching and in some cases saying that our Divine purpose is "God wants me to do this" etc. Which to me still required a conscious decision or determination an End User License agreement a box we have to tick as individuals.

With regard to beyond us perhaps in the eyes of creation we are simply meant to be... And ultimately it is we as individuals who decide.. But then the old destiny issue arises... There are some who say that they have had their purpose thrust upon them, due to the environment and times and that they exist in.

I am still not understanding my reason for being here but accept I am here..so that's perhaps all there is to it. I am here because I am and If I wasn't I'd be someplace else or maybe even nowhere, wherever that is.

It's not as cut and dried always as simply accepting that we as individuals are determining our own purpose. Nor is it , I think a matter entirely of destiny, but there is an interplay between the two.

It is a secret that might remain hidden from my conscious mind, because some of us mentally decide what to do whilst others simply feel in the heart what they are to do...

It's quiet a can of worms once we begin to consider it in more depth

This was LisaLisa's response to gentledove's #144 post.

Your experiences, LisaLisa, are indeed very different from those of gentledove.

You have visions. Gentledove experiences and because she experiences, she knows.

You do not know because you can only interpret your visions and hope your interpretations are correct.
