I panic when i see snakes, even the word snake can freak me out. I have no idea why.

Maybe in a past life, you had bad experiences with snakes- I'm sure in the ancient cultures they used snake pits as torture/murder devices-- and you could have been one of the unlucky folks who died that way. Or else in a past life you died from a snake. Just one theory that makes sense to me.

A bit off topic:

Adepts were called Nagas (= snakes) as the serpent is ever the symbol of Wisdom.

Snakes rely heavily on their taste, which allows them a detailed idea of their surrounding. Depending on the species, some have heat pits, which focus mainly on heat sensor of the objects around them. So you are correct in saying they have very poor eyesight, and of course no ears. They are excellent as picking up the vibrations around them.

It is only through my ownership of several snakes ( one of whom is currently attempting to climb his log, and failing ) that i have come to appriciate these incredible animals.
