I would like to try Reiki. How do you find someone who is well trained/experienced with this? Do you have any tips on what I should look for when searching the ads in my area to find someone?

I dont know where you live but you can do a search under reiki or energy healing I suppose. Someone with a reiki master degree would have the highet level of attunements. Although there are other forms of reiki that have an even higher vibration such as Karuna. Hopefully the reiki healers would have photos and a bio of themselves and their experiences. You can use your intuition to see who you are drawn to, or you can see about recommendations too. Perhaps you can try yelp.com if u live in the US?

Yes I agree, there are many types of Energy Healing, before you look for a Master, maybe you should experience Reiki for yourself..
It should be entered into carefully and honourably.. Read widely and experience it, for it will change your life, for the better..
I have been a Reiki Master now for 14 years and it never ceases to amaze me..
Look for a course on Reiki 1 the first level.. Do not rush it.. Take the time to learn.. Space out your levels over a couple of years as you will need to consolidate your experience and practice, learn the Ethics too...

If you aren't looking to use Reiki to make money you can read a book by Brett Bevell. He attunes you in his book. Or you can you download his Mikao Usui's Reiki Crystal Of Awakening.

Thank you for your answers. I was probably not clear enough in my question ( new to this). I am looking for someone to do reiki on me not to do this myself. Thanks for the advice I will look for someone with a masters and if lucky find someone with karuna. Just not sure with so many people advertising where to start so appreciate your feedback :-)

A Reiki practitioner does not have to be a Reiki master in order to give treatments. You can receive a treatment from a level 1 or level 2 practitioner.

A good question to ask is their lineage. Who did they get their attunements from? I'd personally seek out those that received their attunements in person rather than distant attunements. There's some debate about this, but that's my personal opinion.

Karuna Reiki is fantastic. If you can find someone with that training you'd be on a great path. Holy Fire Reiki is also an amazing refined Reiki energy to seek out, and if you can find a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki master you'd be set.

Try searching reiki.org under "Reiki practitioners and teachers" in the left column of the home page. Listed by state, these practitioners and teachers are all ethically sound.

I was attuned to Usui Reiki and Reiki TUMMO. I use Reiki TUMMO (kundalini) now because it's very heart centered. You can take a class or you can check out their site for the free Usui Reiki Level 1 distance attunement to try it.

I do have a preference for classes because when I was attuned long distance to another Usui Reiki, I just didn't know what to do with it. I decided to pursue Reiki TUMMO instead and loved it ever since. It's the best thing that happened to me and I'm so much happier now in life.

I found a great Reiki circle online. Try searching your local area. Circles are great because there are normally a few people at various levels of Reiki training. It's cheaper too, usually 20 bucks or less. Most Master-Teachers conduct a Reiki group where you can try it out.

In my circle we put someone on the table for about 20 minutes, but there are usually 5-6 people working on you. We have a lot of energy moving.
