The supplement you are taking (5-HTP) is the metabolic precursor to Serotonin (5-HT), the happy hormone. Just to put some medical knowledge behind this, the mainstream antidepressants all affect serotonin levels in some way, ultimately resulting in an increased amount of the stuff in the synapses of your brain.

I know this is an old post but I've been thinking of taking 5 HTP - could anybody recommend me a good quality product.

There are so many out there to choose from, and I'm not sure which brand to purchase...

Yes I take this supplement. My one is a combo tablet with St Johns Wort. I do feel more calm and less anxious. I am going to continue taking it.
