When all the un-happiness is gone then only happiness is left. The work is in removing the causes of un-happiness. Then happiness is a choice.

The thing is, first there's no choice and then there's a choice?

One can be unhappy and another can tell them 'choose happiness', but misery can not be overcome glibly.

The process is one which leads a person through experience, and just as they spiraled downward, they again spiral up, but there is a very delicate time where relapses come all too easy.

To be fair, each person comes as they are, and they feel the way they do, and that's just how it is.

For me, Neale Walsch said and I agree,

"You and God are One. Therefore you, too, are Free. Free to make choices, free to select your reactions and responses to life, free to be your authentic Self"

Thankyou Gem, I heartily agree. I don't know exactly why I agree but what you've written goes beyond words, and my comprehension, and I like the agreement I find at the end.

It is nice to say that everyone has a choice, and many people do (and I did), but yes there are many who would have to give so much to have that choice that it's so far beyond choice as to be insurmontable unless one is already a God, and excuse my glibness within that utterance, so I suppose that while we might have found lot's of happy, I know I have a share I can live with, it may be the beginnings of compassion where and how we spread that happiness and be aware that in some places even the tiniest of smiles is in-appropriate.

That in those times we might find that hope within our own hearts merely adds a little sparkle in our eyes.

"choice" implies conflict. happiness is something that may occur when conflict has been understood.
