An observation

I do not have an answer to your question, but I will make a general observation that may or may not apply to your situation. I think the single biggest problem in meditation is trying too hard. If meditation feels like a lot of effort, something is amiss. After all, mediation is about letting go.

Hi marcpaul,

Generally speaking, with regards to the energy system of the body, a feeling of numbness or that of a cold feeling usually relates to a blockage of energy. The fact that you are experiencing this during your meditation sessions would be because you would be more open to sensing the block as your mind is more relaxed.

My suggestion would be that the next time that this happens during a meditation session, ask 'Spirit' or your 'Spirit Guide' or your 'Guardian Angel' to send healing energy to remove this blockage. Then, just observe what happens as the meditation session continues.

I hope this helps, K.

When working with energies as in mediumship/psychic or meditation as the tool to opening, it is important to flow. We tend to want to 'hold' anything that might happen rather than allow it to flow in and then flow on. Flow is the key...Flow Spirit Flow and all my Fears release!

God bless, J

Hey Marcpaul,

the third eye or pineal gland lays dormant until focused upon. The numbness I would imagine is your third eye opening/becoming energised, i think most people experience this and its a good sign that good things are happening and you are making progress, think of sitting on your leg for 4 hours and then standing up and the leg being dead, for a while youd have stiffness and pins and needles etc, the same happens with the pineal gland when it starts to become energised, its a wasted organ thats not been used since birth and it gets stiff. Google search third eye or pineal gland and you should find a wealth of information to give you confidence on this topic but I would say congratulations and there is nothing to be worried about. In my experience the numbness slowly expands with time and then changes into an amazingly clear sensation that pervades the entire sense of being - the thing I focused on was to learn to feel love in my heart as much as possible and this seems to aid the third eye opening.

Hope this helps, feel free to pm me if you feel i can be of any assistance, all the best with it.

I agree with dreamer, the third eye is a strange sensation when it is open. There is nothing to be worried about here, you are opening your third eye, congratulations!

Hi Marcpaul,

I think you are concentrating rather than focussing around the third eye region. I am not sure whether your third eye or pineal gland has become active. Meditation is a step-by-step process. If it is done randomly, it might create problems/pains to your body, mind or even both!

I advise you to relax yourself both physically and mentally, before starting meditation. Focus on your breathing and then slowly, bring your focus on the third eye region.

By the way, you should elaborate where do you mean by third eye region?

I am also not aware of why exacly this is happing. Many times when you meditate it clears your energy and mind and this can reveal issues that were hidden under the distraction of everyday life. So you be becoming aware of some issues/problems that were hidden, and now with more body awarness they come to the surface and it "hurts".

My suggestion is to try some Breathing Techniques to stop stress , first. This can help you get warmed up a bit before jumping directly into deep meditation. What I find that helps me personally is to do a good workout first, like running on the beach. This gets the body in a strong place, and helps clear up the "funky" energy that has built up over the day.
