Self love really is the dark side of love. It is love but it is very self absorbed and not necessarily virtuous or ethical. The Bible is mainly about whole love which Christ summed up as love of self, others and God. NOT just the flaming self.
Get over yourselves! So what you are God, but are not we all. God is God too.

No, it's actually essential. Healthy agape love is key to genuine compassion in this world.
How we treat and view others is generally how we view and treat ourselves.
The world needs more genuine self and other love - compassionate, understanding etc.

"and love your neighbor as your self"...…...It has been helpful to me as understanding this as meaning: "and love your neighbor as BEING yourself".....this expresses what I believe as the true unity that God wishes for us...…..without separation from others.

Does self love have a direction? Is it inwards? Love needs to go outwards too....and upwards!

The closer we get to Gods pure holy Love when our identity becomes as a son and we can see how God forgives us and is gentle with us and has mercy for us and this love is filling us on the inside then we can show it or express it outward to others in a agape way.
My growth has come by uncovering it on the inside of my self by letting go of grievances or resentments and things of my past that covered my soul.
