I AM and religion.....will they ever see eye to eye?

I AM affects the brain. I'm sure of it. As soon as someone says they practice I AM my guard goes up. They then procede to explain the universe from the position of I AM. It is complete repetition, over and over.

Religion affects the brain. I'm sure of that too. I'm more tolerant of religion because I understand it. But it puts the people who practice I AM guard up.

Will I AM and religion ever see eye to eye?

I can see that I have worded this thread quite strongly. I apologise.

But I can see the differences between I AM and religion quite clearly in my mind.

Religion has sadly affected many brains, true Religion can only be found within, anything out there that claims to be religious, is nothing more than an idol.

I must say I do like your Black Eyed Peas mention at the end of this post.

A person to have their guard to anything is based off of what they feel it to be. If it is something that causes them to be defensive it is based on a result of fear and mistrust.

That fear and mistrust is based off of what they have been told of it, or even what they may have experienced themselves. Like being bit by a dog.

To answer your question will I Am and religion ever see eye to eye? That is dependent on what religion you are referring to and what belief each has for themselves and what they are.

If I am were to point to an inner power or an inner God as being truth and the religion were to point to God as an outer power then they will not see eye to eye. They are at two different sides of the spectrum with no common ground.

How can we really see any religion seeing eye to eye, when they teach an eye for an eye ?.

Human compassion is the answer. As humans grow and develop they may find themselves being able to accept other religions. Like I have.

Yes I have accepted religions, but that doesn't mean I am for them, or even against them, but can those who call themselves religious really accept all other religions, i don't think many could, they may tolerate other religions, but what is tolerance, putting up with a screaming child in a shopping center lol.

Inner convictions aren't always in accord with the actual reality.

I AM is a religious teaching. And there's nothing wrong with that.
