Timothy was told to take medicine to help with is infirmities. Paul was not ordering Timothy to drink alcohol, but advising him to use a little wine.

" There are reasons for us to understand that this is the exact substance that Paul had in mind when he gave this instruction to Timothy. The word "wine" is translated from the Greek word oinos. While our English word "wine" has come to refer exclusively to an intoxicating beverage made from fermented grape juice, oinos was a generic word which was used to refer to the juice of the grape in all of its stages - both fermented and unfermented."

Mybe some of the ' Wine ' mentioned in the Bible was just what we refer to as Grape Juice....

Well then, moderation is a good thing, and an essential thing as one ages. I hope to sit down with him some day around a backyard campfire and share a cold beer. Maybe even a home brew.

No one has mentioned the safety of wine vs. water in those times. They did not have our safe bottled water.

It is not about consuming alcohol. The physical body of flesh designed & created by the almighty Christ entity, was not designed to .......alcohol.

Alcohol poisons the flesh & causes disease. And so Jesus would not turn water into wine so that people could cause disease to flourish within them.

Jesus only does loving things for other persons, that is what he is. All holy, all loving and all Merciful. The same as his Heavenly Father Christ entity.

After thinking about this a bit more something doesn’t seem right to me. If Jesus was opposed to drinking wine, why does the bible use wine as a metaphor for the “holy spiritual essence”. It makes it sound like it is talking about changing the ‘soul self’ into a flesh poison. I don’t think Jesus came to do that. And if he did, then wouldn’t alcohol just be helping? I do like to think of God as being omnibenevolent and omniscient, yet this almost sounds like a mean trick to play.
I can see why God may not want people to be drunkards. We all know someone who doesn’t or can’t stop when they should and end up becoming mean and doing bad things. Yet, people can get drunk on ideologies and religions as well. Beliefs can alter the mind just like a drug can. Perhaps Jesus or God is warning about becoming so sure of our own righteousness that we become like a drunkard and go around doing violence in the name of God. People get so doped up on their political ideologies or religious beliefs that they go flying airplanes full of people into buildings because they are sure God wants them to, or stoning people (mostly women I expect in those days) for sleeping with someone before going through a religious ceremony.

When you say, “All holy, all loving and all Merciful. The same as his Heavenly Father Christ entity,” are you thinking of the God of the old testament?

Actually, the quote:

“Now beware in yourselves that your hearts do not become heavy with the eating of flesh and with the intoxication of wine and with the anxiety of the world, and that day come upon you suddenly; for as a snare it will come upon all them who sit on the surface of the earth.”

Seems more of a warning about becoming too mesmerized by Maya and forgetting that there are spiritual aspects and goals in life as well. A warning that would fit just as well in the Gita or some Buddhist writing. Don't you think?
