I would need far more information on what that would mean for me.

I'm thinking probably not, though. I like my life and I'm not done with it yet.

We experience many lives where we live and die and merge back with the All. I will merge with the All again at the end of this life. I'm in no hurry and I'm enjoying my life right now, so my answer to your question is no.

Great topic.
Yes it is.

When I met God I felt no great need to stay with Him. There was stuff I wanted to achieve in this physical world - if I remember correctly, I wanted to create/be part of something beautiful, real... something I could be proud of.

Currently, I'm feeling remarkably attached to my girlfriend. It's taken me oh soooooo long to find someone I'm more than reasonably compatible with. Slight conflict there.

I often thought of this merging and becoming one process.

If it is our natural state of being, then technically there should be nothing that can go wrong or fear, so to speak.

Its like a fish flopping around on land then being put back in the water.

I think its our bodies that fear as they only know this. I think, minus that interferance, the rest of us would be fine.

As he describes it is a process, for most the ego doesn't instantly evaporate after the first enlightenment experience but diminishes and deconstructs over time with periods of union inbetween. And about the personal question for me, it is one I've been very conflicted about all of my life ever since I understood the option. Part of me is profoundly drawn towards this merge and another part of me still wants to hold onto "me" and to make my story turn out okay. I go back and forth between these two poles. So I have never gotten to 100% yes, but I think one day I will.

Thank you for drawing my attention to Adyashanti.

As to the bolded part: perhaps the reason you want to make your story turn out okay is that you promised you would try before you reincarnated. See Destiny of Souls by Michael Newton.

It is information I cannot give you but I believe there are some people here who perhaps could.

I agree that we experience many lives. Whether we merge back with the All between lives I do not know but I seriously doubt it. So far I have not come across any book, article or NDE which says we even shed our personas upon death. Perhaps the branches, all our personas, remain autonomous parts of the tree which is our soul.

Mirrors are great, Lisa. However, with age mirrors are not so great anymore and at times reduced vision is a blessing.

I really would like to play but there really are too many variables in opinion hidden in this question.........lol

Who is "I"?
What does it mean to merge?
Who is merging?
What is God/all that Is/Creator?

IMO (to be taken lightly)on the surface it seems like a fun question but from where i sit, believing one can answer it is a huge source of suffering among the spiritually minded folks.
The very thought that there is something to achieve, creates an achiever and consequently the illusory achiever will lament over his or her repeated failed efforts to achieve this illusory goal which ironically is really just underneath the very thoughts themselves of an a achiever and of something to achieve.

Sorry to be a party pooper.......
James
