White trousers, one eyed kitten

Snippets from a recent dream:

Stood outside of a small convenience store, I realised I was wearing white trousers, which exposed some faint dirt marks. I felt momentarily conscious of this as it was unusual for me, while each other part of my attire was not unusually black. But I considered that my trousers may be perceived as work wear, such as what decorators might wear, and I needn't feel self-conscious.

I sat in a row of strangers with our backs against the walls of stores. I looked across the street where a man wanted and gained the attention of an unusual looking dog. I felt it was rude, as the dog's owner had continued walking and may not wish to be held back by another stranger's interests. I then considered that it could be the owner's fault for not having his dog on a leash. Two children then approached the dog. Its face started to look somewhat human as I watched in intrigue that the dog wasn't a threat.

Leaving the area, comments were made about my trousers, but I sensed ego in those comments, as well as ego should I respond. With this clarity, I felt at ease and with no desire to say anything back. I was crossing the road at the time. Then, across the street, I saw a black/dark grey kitten (or small cat) with one eye. It was down by a small stream, and I wondered if it needed help returning to street level. However, I trusted that it knew what it was doing and continued walking. As I did so, an elderly woman ran down at the kitten in an attempt to collect it and help it up. The kitten responded by running away.

----

My thought is that the white trousers may be associated with wearing my imperfections, or something similar. I have been practising compassion in an attempt to embrace imperfection, which is what brings it to mind. This is also because I briefly looked at my reflection in the store's window after realising that my trousers were white.

In regards to the kitten, I can't help but notice the contrast of young and old as the old woman charged down at the young cat. Her attentions were good, but her methods were not, and the kitten was spooked and unable to understand.

for me, the idea of your pants being white, especially (though not solely)
coupled with your having practiced compassion, is suggesting that your
lower chakras have been "cleansed" and are not holding any 'darkness'.
the situation seems something of a surprise to you, as if you'd not been
aware of dressing yourself in that manner... i take it that you 'normally'
wear dark clothing, and perhaps you do so in a purposeful effort to
remain 'mysterious' to casual observers(?).
the animals appear to be a driving force in the dream, as if they're
mutants or imbued with a higher intelligence. perhaps it'd been that
dog which was walking it's 'owner' and not the other way around?
the one-eyed cat was perhaps luring the old woman down to the
stream... so that she might wash away some imperfections of her
own? [you had "trusted that it knew what it was doing", granting
that it had an innate wisdom, and could manage whatever business
it was involved with.] it could be that 'nature', through those creatures,
was helping the populace of your dream scene in some unspecified
way... implying that the same would be true for you in 'real life'.
it could be that if you hold onto your intentions to practice forgiveness,
the natural world will be assisting you in that process.

Clothes in general are symbolic for our attitude and position on things. In this instance it was pants. Pants are worn on the legs which help us move about in the world so the focus is on how you approach the world. In this instance the pants were white. White can mean a few things like innocence or purity but I think given your history it relates to the idea of being perfect and clean or unblemished. It is something that makes you uncomfortable and self conscious if others were to see your weaknesses and mistakes (the stain). But it wasn't even a big stain so you may indeed be expecting perfection when no such thing exists.

Because of this position or belief, you and all aspects of you are a bit closed off to new ideas (everyone's back to the store). But you are starting to see not everyone is a threat and sone might even be friends given the chance and not held on too tightly (dog off leash).

Ultimately though it sounds like you have learned that you need not rush in to save your emotions. That the act of doing so only scares you off more and creates a desire for you to run and hide. In the past (old lady) you felt a need to rush in immediately any time you wound up in a tight spot but you see now the act of rushing in an emergency only adds to the anxiety and fear you may be feeling making things worse. This shows progress on your part and is going to help you open up more to the world around you and new opportunities eventually.
