 What is Joy...
It reminds me of what CS Lewis said in 'Mere Christianity'...
"If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them.
They are not a sort of prize which God could, if He chose, just hand out to anyone.
They are a great fountain of energy and beauty spurting up at the very centre of reality.
If you are close to it, the spray will wet you: if you are not, you will remain dry."

To say Joy is the cessation of suffering therefore imply's joy is non existent and suffering is natural. As human beings we are born into joy - it's the most natural state and emotion. To feel joy is easier for one to feel than suffering/fear/pain because they are all created within your mind..
I have said this before in one of my motivational talks...Your exterior circumstances may try to control you but there is one thing that nothing and no one can control and that is what and how you think...

I get most of the joy from my cat
Just by looking at him I feel love, peace and well-being.
I feel joy when I meditate.
When I am at the beach and I can feel hot sun on my skin and fresh breeze that is cooling me at the same moment. Wonderful feeling.
When I am walking/hiking/climbing in the nature. Fresh air. Beautiful serene nature. Calming green colours of plants and warm blue colour of sky. Colourful flowers. Water. Waterfalls. Waves.
Looking pictures of animals.
Dancing on my own and listening to fun music.
Having fun and engaging conversations with other people. When I feel connected.
When I feel warmth and energy in my body.
