graves disease
Can someone please recommend a successful treatment for this condition? Person is overweight male 50 years of age. He doesn't want to have his thyroid removed.

I'm dealing with Cushing's disease which is benign adenomas in the various endocrine glands. The literature suggests that this is not very common but from what I'm seeing is that issues in the endocrine system are becoming extremely common. Just about anyone I know deals with some level of adrenal fatigue. It is very obvious in families with autism spectrum conditions. So, the most helpful thing has been to follow a diet that doesn't further strain the endocrine system, such as anything that is sugar or quickly converted to sugar (simple carbs, alcohol...), caffeine. There are a number of herbs that help that I would research to see if they make a good match for you such as Rhodolia, Schizandra, Holy Basil, Black Cohosh and Vitex. Black Cohosh is marketed mostly to women but can be taken by men as well. Iodine may also be an issue - most of us are deficient. But for some iodine appears to CAUSE the problem in the thyroid... the problem with that is that studies are coming out showing how iodine deficiency causes problems in other endocrine glands which then "misfire" and as a result cause issues in the thyroid, therefore making it SEEM like iodine is the cause and should therefore not be taken. So, this is very tricky.
