awakening and self-deception

When you realize you've been deceiving yourself, and that you never really honestly believed the lies you told yourself - that's a great awakening.

What did you awaken too in this realization for you?

My complaints. My anger toward God. My qualms with life, truth, justice, and God. I found fault with it all, I saw it as bad and unfair. But I never honestly believed my complaints and qualms. I knew better. I never honestly believed God was this arrogant jerk I thought He was. I was lying to myself and I knew it.

This is one of my favourite sayings and I apologise in advance for the swear-word, but without it, it just lacks the whole punch.

I should listen to it a bit more myself though. lol

OH gosh you have come a long way then.

God takes bad rap sometimes, so it seems.

SD, very good point. I feel that people's stories have varying degrees of truth. One of my problems was focusing on the times I've been mistreated rather than focusing on the good in my life and the great love others have shown me. It's humbling to see how biased and distorted my view has been.

NF, yeah it's a very big deal in that my negative view of God has caused me so much suffering. It's good that I'm finally starting to be honest with myself.
