how could you?
he suddenly
blurted out
the way
he often did
without hesitation
boldly
confidently
the way he is
so unlike me
yet we are so
much the same
in so many ways
how could you?
i heard him whisper
again
barely audible
above the winter
late afternoon
sounds
those sounds we've
both grown so
accustomed to
the same way
i learned his
every move
every sound
the tiny ones
he barely knew
existed
when? i hear him say
when did you?
looking directly at me
his eyes taking in
the look upon my
face
wanting to know the
exact day
exact moment
i fell
fell
in love
with
him
how could you
not tell me?
he said with love
in his voice
how could you
not tell me
so i too
could say it
too?
