House filled with black smog?!

Last night I had a dream where my childhood home, which is still my mothers house was filled with thick black smog. It was originating from a corner of the attic from what looked like white spooky looking bed sheets.

This smog filled the whole house and my mother was downstairs in the kitchen cooking. I remember thinking that I wasn't able to clear the smog on my own but all of us - me, my mum and sisters all had to clear it together.

It was quite a frightening dream, which woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep for a while.

I think the dream has something to do with fear. Needless to say, there have been many turbulent times in my mother's house over the years. I felt this dream may have some deeper meaning? I also felt it was necessary for me to have this dream as I have been working alot on clearing fear.

Any insights would be appriciated. Thanks.

Dreams that use your childhood home as the setting are almost always using that setting to illustrate, that what is trying to be conveyed, came about from there and that time in your life. It has it's roots there and started there. In this case, a current fear or issue is because of something learned there. The black smog most likely represents negative energy but it could also represent the unknown and the inability to control the unknown. You feel you cannot clear it alone, but together as a family, you can. In your mind, you don't have the power to do it by yourself. It requires everyone else as well. This could indicate a lingering belief established at that time in your life that it's not "you" that needs to change, but everyone else. Clearly, it indicates a manner of thinking since it came from the attic and how one thinks, plans and prepares for things.

Attics symbolize the superconscious (spiritual, soul concepts). The bed sheets indicate intimacy issues (bed = bedroom, intimate self). Because this is your mothers home, this dream would indicate to me that some old issues (attic storage) of intimacy (emotional/physical/sexual—dreamer must determine) are still pervading the family unit (black smog throughout house).

Black is negative, stagnant, undeveloped, etc. Most likely your mothers issues that have molded the family’s approach toward intimacy and how it is dealt with. This is a good dream because it is letting you know that some family patterns need to be looked at and absolved in order for people to grow/develop. Hope this helps.
