How to cleanse different crystals.

I always wonderwhich stones can be soaked in salt water and which should be cleansed other ways. I have a list i hope some can answare. Which can be cleansed in salt water of the following....

Spanish Aragonite, Auralite 23, Seriphos Green Quartz, Danburite.

Add your own list of crystals youre not sure how to handle and take care of.

I mostly rinse my crystals under running water and dry thoroughly, sometimes followed by smudging. I will do this with pretty much all of my crystals (including polished selenite) because the interaction with water is pretty brief - I just make sure not to do it too often and dry them really well. The only crystals I tend to soak are the wands, but that isn't frequent, only if I want to add some essential oils. The only crystals that are exempt from water in my collection are a very large / rough piece of selenite and a Desert Rose.

I don't use salt, it can get in to the tiny cracks on the crystals and cause breakages if you don't get it all out (moreso for rough crystals). I'm a fan of smudging and sound clearing, I have a Woodstock Chime and find it thoroughly enjoyable to create a racket with it.

You can also use sound to cleanse your crystals ~ tingshas for single crystals, and a singing bowl for lots :)

Some stones, when place them in water will leach the color. For example, Lapis. Crystals that you should never place in water are angelite, selenite, halite and calcite, because they're extremely soft, and can easily dissolve in water.

@martinet noir:

Excellent Cleansing Technique.

@FruitLoop & @Mystic Mark:

There has been a growing insurgence with crystal holders to eliminate the use of Salt or salted water. In any case, even running water and sand has a very small amount to salt (naturally). I prefer the spring water or the moss/water technique.

The spring water must be cool tot he touch roughly 49-52 degrees as to promote growth and rekindle the stones original environment. A cool running stream deep in the forest with moss patches scattered about. Perfect and ideal surroundings.

Lately, I've kind of gotten away from using salt water.

Both Springwater and Rainwater are great for cleansing crystals because they both have a Satva (Pure) Energy. Understanding this fact, a lot of yogis like to stand under the waterfalls because they're very healing. :)
