Does things between twin flames always happen fast?

I met my TF about 18 months ago at a party in a very random place where neither of us lived. There was an instant connection but we couldn't imagine that night what was about to come. We lived far away from each other, so we wrote to each other every day and it was like we shared the same soul. It was very strange.
The very first day after we met I felt something had changed in me but I didn't know what it was, my soul felt different, like a new beginning.
One month later we met at another party in a different location. We spent 2 days together. I then went home and left my partner.
I left a 10-year long relationship for someone I had met twice.

The first time I visited him (another month later) we both knew we were always meant to meet. It felt like the universe had reunited us. It felt like our souls were just twisting together. We both went into a huge transformation and we still are, our journey has just begun!
I've never experienced such an intense relationship. We still live far away from each other but are planning to move in together soon.
