I don't subscribe to a lot of the stuff William Buhlman claims personally as my own experiences have illustrated a drastically different picture than his have apparently. It's not really possible to know what happens when we die in my opinion until we die. Even if you have other beings tell you there is no guarantee they have lived as a Human, lived in our dimension, or have a reason to tell us the truth.

Astral projection takes you out of the physical high-density dimension on Earth that we live in, so technically speaking you cannot visit locations that exist in this dimension on Earth that we are experiencing. You can visit dimensions overlapping this dimension though and sometimes they will look similar to the dimension they overlap, but that only extends to a certain degree unfortunately. My advice to anyone who is seeking to visit locations that exist in this dimension on Earth is to take a vacation, if you want to visit locations that exist in other dimensions and not this dimension then astral projection can be a good tool for that.
