People tend to associate stress only with the negative "distress".

Stress isn't only a negative term. Stress is simply a organisms response to an environmental stimuli. There is positive "eustress" and negative "distress".

The commonly understood "distress" is a fight or flight response to something. Distress is an issue for many people these days. Many factors cause distress including the work day and money. It used to be that distress (fight or flight) was centered around survival, such as finding food and avoiding predators. Now that we have overcome the threat if starvation and predators (for the most part), we find ourselves triggering our distress over things like school work, jobs, family issues, and money.

Since jobs, money, school, etc, are essentially survival challenges, it makes sense that some would trigger their fight or flight response unnessesarily. The issue is that our population has become so caught up with work, school, and money, that we forget we need to take breaks in order to produce more eustress. If we don't allow for more eustress, we will constantly be in a fight or flight mode, which is unhealthy.
