I think there's a word for someone being nostalgic about the times they didn't get to experience, I need to search it.
Edit : it's called "Anemoia" .

that is what I feel about the 70's If I was born in 9-1-1943 I would have been 17 in 1970. I feel very much connected to that era for some reason.

Honestly, if you look at standard of living, health care, opportunities, freedom (racial, gender, religion, sexuality...) there is no better time in history than today. Throughout history, the birth lottery was very dangerous for most people. I have no desire to go back in time at all.

The future... maybe I would go, but I am pretty happy being retired on the beach today. 😎

Depends also what situation you are in,if you lived a comfortable life in some ancient civilisation or were part of a victim tribe of same civilisation, similar today you could be part of the affluent or part of the put up on,both have positives and negatives, even in my block of flats today there is hellish conditions in some and some are like stepping into a semi paradise-so golden ages and golden places-I should strive to make my place a golden one and if I get a time machine just go times at random.

Regarding the terms of music and cultural movements the 70s, 80s and 90s certainly had their unique charm. If i have to choose one then renaissance period would be my first choice. That was the time of the great intellectual and with lots of artistic innovations. What do you think about it?

The Renaissance period is not somewhere I'd want to travel back in time too, to each their own though. I feel very much connected to the 60's and 70's.

I feel that I have an affinity with the Belle Epoque, and may well have been an artist on continental Europe at this time in a previous life. Just before it, and then during it, so that I could experience the changes and the progress which took place.

Other than that, I would have liked to live in Swinging London during the 1960’s. Or been in Berlin when the wall came down (maybe as a 3rd year undergraduate doing TEFL Teaching in West Berlin).
