They are a way of changing how you perceive yourself, your thoughts are powerful things for good or bad, and effect your life. Basically, if you feel that all is well, and expect everything to go well, it will. Our subconscious believes whatever our thoughts tell it to. for good or ill. It takes practice, it helps to write out what you want out of life and a BELIEF that we will get it. If you have a fear of something no matter what it is, that will be drawn to you, so it's important to KNOW that all is well in your life.

My definition of affirmation is that it is the conscious use of thought to bring about a desired change in perception.

How to use affirmations is up to you. I prefer to use honest affirmations when I notice what I am affirming occurring. For example, if I want to enjoy life more then during the first sip of a fresh hot cup of coffee I may think, "I enjoy living."

People use affirmations for many reasons. My reason for using them is that I want to focus on things that I want to get stronger because it is my personal belief that the more you focus on something in the mind the stronger it becomes in the mind. So if I want to enjoy life more I focus in on it until I am perceiving enjoyment much more frequently.

So im struggling between vocally made affirmations and mental affirmations.

Which to use? I feel like I believe vocally made affirmations may be more powerful for inviting energy. And mental affirmations may be better for re-inforcing positive thinking/feeling.

Any thoughts? I'm a complete noobie when it comes to affirmations. I would appreciate some guidance on where to start.

In the mornings I tend to meditate and end on affirmations, I tend to trust my own mind and it will figure out what it needs to have affirmed. The more I need it in my day, the more I repeat the words.

If I am lost I usually use "I approve of myself".

Louise Hay is a good place to start on Youtube - she explains a fair amount and has a few guided affirmation meditations.

Good luck!

Hello Kartock,

Maybe use a combination of the two, vocally made affirmations and mental affirmations ?

There is also a 3rd way, written affirmations. I tend to like these as my first choice. By writing them down, it strengthens the affirmation in the mind, or so I believe.

Whichever way works best for you, is the best way ! Try all 3 ways and choose or use them in combinations.

Blessings to you,

Adrienne

i have a little sign by my desk at work with some happy affirmations i love reading to myself! it says "i am in charge of my health; i am proud of my body; i radiate love to others; i am full of energy". reading it really helps my days go smoothly. i have different little signs that have some other phrases that work the same way my affirmations do too, like positive words that make me feel good about myself. one says "how beautiful is this life?", another "you are lightning." a few others are: "being positive in a negative situation is not naive. its leadership.", "be gentle with yourself, you're doing the best you can." "although you are very small and your kind have existed in the universe for only a short time, you are an important part of something very large and very beautiful." though the last few aren't really affirmations that i'd repeat to myself, they're things i'd like to imagine the universe has to say to me. :)

Hello,

Affirmations are statements of Intent. Most of us speak them verbally however every thought we encourage is indeed an affirmation.

The reason we use affirmations is because our thinking will create our reality. Affirmations are considered the best way to focus our attention.
