Music, Expectations and Interpretations

Today I listened to music in a different way. The following is what I wrote in my journal. Beware: I like creating words (such as "unsettlingly"). Also, the two weird words – Nyíms and Nyímma – are explained at the bottom, after my journal entry.

"I have just experienced music without expectations, without Nyíms*! I allowed the sound waves to clash with my energy and I almost instantly began to tear up. Why? The answer to this question might betray Nyímma**...

It is because Nyíms might simply be a distraction. Stories we make up in our minds. Colours and images put in roles of their own. However, its not that Nyíms are bad or should be avoided. Not at all. As humans, Nyíms play a huge role in our lives. It is a way of exercising imagination, sensitivity and artistic perception. It is beautiful.

But what I just experienced was so beautifully devoid and raw that it comes off as unsettlingly empty. Yet, the beauty is in that emptiness. The emptiness is the absence of expectations. Expectations are an attempt to control things. Listen to music in a way that it becomes simply a matter of vibrations resonating with your own vibrations!"

** Nyímma = What me and my friend call our """philosophy""" (its a way of having fun)
