From pretty much every source i have read or listened to or watched it seems that the desire for change was more less unanimous amongst the Egyptians. Mubarek was a horrible leader, and while i do not respect all of those who used senseless violence, my impression is that is was Mubarek supporters who by the vast majority instigated violence, with some pockets of people who took advantage of the chaos in small groups to try robbing or stealing from people.

I disagree that only some wanted change, to me, from every source i have looked into, it was wanted by most all Egyptians short of some few of those already in the government. Not that i know, but my sense is that this change is by far a positive one, and the fact that it happened so peacefully is amazing and inspiring to me.

I am open to any contradictory evidence though, or points of view also, of course.

Well I too have followed this event so I stand by what I have said. Violence is not something to be used to gain what you want....In any circumstance. .......
The 'some' that don't want change have a right to be counted and heard as well......in a democracy that happens.....Every single Egyptian, not just those that want a different way.

That's fair. I don't support violence either, however, from what i have come to understand, as i have said, it was the energy and resolve of the non-violent protesters that caused this change.

They had a segment on the CBC where an egyptian explained how a core group of people, together in prayer, who would not be intimidated my violence, or the influence of those who wanted to become violent, and the army was in support of the people.

These 'some' obviously have as much a right to there voice as any others, and i truly believe that they will now have a much greater opportunity to be counted, and that because of this change, democracy is now much more likely than it was before, because of the people that did stand together and peacefully demanded change.

I am happy to cite sources, and will do so when i have more time.

Peace. ~

I think a lot of those who showed support in the beginning for MB, did so out of fear. Take the Army for example, look how they turned around and began to support the anti-protesters.
Of course we saw how the police/secret police were trying to protect MB, supporting him and his government, but we also saw another side to them didn't we. They took an oath a long time ago, to serve their people, this wasn't happening during the protests Many removed their uniforms and attacked the people also the journalists.

The protests were very peaceful on the part of the anti-protesters and because of this, it created people power and through this a great change came into being.
