I Would Like To Learn Acupressure

My Mom always likes me to massage her neck because she is always so tense. I already know how to do Reiki and I learned that you can use Reiki on the Acupressure/Acupuncture points. There are no schools where I am at. Can anyone tell me what would be a good website or book to read to start learning?

Hi LilyBelle,

Acupressure's Potent Points by Michael Reed Gach is the best acupressure book I've found. I have a lot of books on it but this is the only one I use regularly. It's very user-friendly. He also has youtube videos on how to find points.
Blessings,
Ananias

While accupressure and accupunture share many attributes, they arn't quite the same thing.
I mean, one uses needles, and chinese herbs/medicine, and the other (accupressure) does not.

While you don't have any school nearby, there are accupunture schools with loans available that covers housing cost. Just the way I went.

It is no longer that cheap....and of course, you need to be able to repay the loans (which can wipe you out)....so not saying to get a loan.
Just saying...it is possible.

How do you feel about needles?

Is one question.
the other would be, how do you feel about having a big loan debt and having to cover the cost of insurance/overhead/starting a new business?

All that goes into accupunture (besides talking leary people into doing it).

Just like to add that Acupuncture in the UK is a four-year degree course and includes clinical practice under guidance. You need this to be accepted as a qualified acupuncturist in the UK

Don't waste your money on short-courses !

I'd like to learn more too. Sometimes when I start going to sleep I feel like a friendly spirit is applying energetic pressure to a couple of points on my face and it relaxes me. Does anybody have any resources for it -- specifically applied to spiritual growth rather than physical ailments?

There are copious amounts of information out there regarding pressure points and meridians. These days it comes in many formats to conveniently accommodate any device, LoL.
If you want to learn it so you can apply it in your massages for your mother then you can learn much on your own. You might find that in so doing other interests arise, perhaps herbal remedies, Qi disharmony, deficiency and excess and other disharmony in the body...there is a lot out there.
If you want to learn it to get some kind of certification so you can practice it as a means of making a living, school is a grand idea. I'm not certain you can learn just the acu-points though, generally the "whole thing" is taught including diagnostics and treatments, even clinical internship which is a great experience.

Acupressure for dummies is very easy to read lol and it also teaches reflexology. I bought some good charts with it and have had success in healing my family

Also, you might be interested in Trigger Point Therapy and deep tissue massage for fascia, which is different than accupressure, but sometimes trigger points may end up being on accupressure points.
Most times when there is neck pain, it's actually coming from the trapezius muscle.
