visited the old neighborhood
I had a dream that was rather realistic. I went to an old neighborhood where I used to live until I was 8. I went to someone's house and they didn't believe I ever lived there. I started listing off neighbors and features, even that in my old house. I even noted features the dream got wrong, like a neighbors house that was too small and painted dark colors instead of light, and was missing the fence and the motor home on the side. I did get wrong where my old best friend used to live though. Through the dream I was reminding myself that I had to wake up because I has to pee lol. But I noted everything from the cypress trees to what my house looked like. I don't know why I went to that old neighborhood. I haven't been there in years.

I can give you a psychological interpretation:
Psychologically it represents a desire of yours to go back to the basics, or to start over something. The things that changed might be your subconscious realizing that if you go back, things will not be as you left them or as they were back then.
Take this as a simple opinion. A psychiatrist is able to give you a way more detailed explanation for it.
Very interesting dream indeed.

i got confused with the story/dream.
had you revisited your old neighborhood after the dream...
in order to see which parts were accurate?
(or was that visit strictly within the context of the dream?)

Strictly in the dream. I haven't been there in maybe 25 years?

well, the journey back to your old neighborhood may have been initiated
through a feeling of nostalgia, or as a means to gauge the evolutions
you've accomplished since those times.
the most interesting aspect of your dream, for me, was how it shows
the multi-layered nature of your mind/psyche. each is somewhat
distinct, yet in communication and part of the greater whole.
there was the facet which created the dream environment
(possibly personified by the doubter, testing your recall?);
the facet which you most clearly identified with, who had access
to your memories; and the facet which was attuned to your physical
body's needs throughout the episode.
