Affirmations In The Third Person
I am wondering if this is a phenomenon that's distinct to myself.
Whenever I start off an affirmation with " I am......" I run headlong into a wall of defensive scepticism, however, when I turn it around and say " you are...." in relation TO myself, this seems to make all the difference.
It is like my mind separates into two different entities, a loving, caring soul who is giving the positive message and vibration, e.g. "you are awesome" and "you are a beautiful soul" and the other part of my brain or myself which needs to hear it...but the very moment I make it totally and personally subjective, I find some kind of anger and resentment building up...going "no, I am not, so sod off".
I am wondering if part of my brain dissociates into more of a caring role, maybe to compensate for all those times I wished that another person would have said these things to me, but did not.
In any case, I also understand that if this is the way it is going to work, then who am I to question it and I should just accept it and go with the flow.
