I have found that trust in Reality tells me that we have all always been "saved". Reality is one big sign. But there you go, each to their own.

As far as I'm aware, God doesn't give up, even if Christianity were the true religion, I've experienced Jesus' love and just knew he would never give up on me. So really I feel that gives me free licence to figure out what I believe - and if Jesus is the truth then I'll eventually realise it and go back to him. And he'll be waiting with open arms. Even after death(hell is not a permanent place)

You are asking that much questions because you fear to lose the world you see.

The reason is that you can see either God or this world. (this you know unconsciously)
You are the maker of this world (this is pointing, not guilt casting !). And you love it. But this is fearful world.

In a way, you are the maker of the opposites of God.

God is happiness, life, joy, Abundance.

You made: Fear, death, sadness and poverty.

So in a way, if you would see God now, all what you made would disappear and would be replaced by him.

Then pray to Jesus, he knows how to handle your fears.

Since I know the ans to the op...I must ans...
No. God never gives up...'He' has eternity and if He has
to wait only for your heart, as in, He has every heart but yours
...for the next half of eternity..He will wait.
It's not because of 'you' in particular...it's because He is addicted to love...every drop of it.
It is His very Nature.
I know this directly from 'Him'.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I never believed in God many years ago.
Twice i should have been dead through alcohol related issues.
I also over came alcohol addiction too.
It wasnt just because i finally found some will power either.
Will power doesnt come into play when you have a serious drink or drug problem.
I went against God so many times in my life but still i am here loving life with that little grin on my face now that yes infact God does exist.

So, how does one stop believing, once they have come to faith?
God is love.

"Saved" means rescued, as by Another. Grace means, "Unmerited Favor".

You're talking about self doubt and guilt, no?
God gives up on no one.
Perhaps you're talking about giving up on yourself?
Self reproach?

In this world, people vascilate. Change. Waver.
God as He Himself describes to us, doesn't change.

He say's to us, "I change not".

"Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, in Whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning."
James

"God is not a man, that He should lie."
