Just as keeping silent and talking are two complimentary manifestations of the same force,
in the same way there are twelve sets of opposites which we must learn to control to further
our spiritual initiation. Those 12-sets of opposites are:

(1) Keeping silent ----- Talking

(2) Receptivity ----- Resistance to Influence

(3) Obeying ----- Ruling

(4) Humility ----- Self-Confidence

(5) Lightening like speed ----- Circumspection

(6) To accept everything ----- To be able to differentiate

(7) Ability to fight ----- Peace

(8) Caution ----- Courage

(9) To Possess nothing ----- To command everything

(10) To have no ties ----- Loyalty

(11) Contempt for death ----- Regard for life

(12) Indifference ----- Love

I like and there is much truth in all this to understand deeper life and the many facets of life's diamond heart awareness..

My practice involves western mystical training such as the Qabbalah and traversing the Qabbalistic Tree of Life as well as eastern mysticism as can be found in yoga and meditation. I had an Indian Guru who taught me how to meditate and afterwards took a 13-year, 18-courses of study and practice, on the Qabbalah. I try to look for the commonalities between different spiritual and religious paths and not their differences; and view yoga as the alchemy of the east while alchemy is the yoga of the west. But these days yoga is just about everywhere while western spiritual alchemy is still primarily embraced in the west.

Interesting thread Starman

So... which ones should one do more of, less of, or a balance of? I would say a balance of the first one, who likes people who jabber on about nothing of any importance or to talk only for the purpose of being a nuisance :P Although I do not talk very much at all in real life or am any good at conversations but that is something I can hopefully overcome later on in life.

I'd say #3 and #6 are especially important to balance. Neither following orders all the time nor giving them is a good thing. Being both the teacher and the student in life is the most logical approach imo ;) #6 is interesting as I had a recent thought about open-mindedness and how it should be differentiated with gullibility. With an open mind, one must allow all possibilities and ideas to flow in freely, but at the same time must not set any possibility or idea as fact, no matter how improbable something might be!

#7 is interesting too... There's empathy and psychopathy for sure, they are opposites to each other, but it's hard to stand up for yourself if you're an empath like me, as you consider others sometimes too much that you put yourself on lowest priority, which isn't always the best idea, as we are all equally important, including ourselves!

#12: I think this is the only one which doesn't really need balance... just love for all and no conditions! <3
