@Master and Student
By jeff Wilson

But didn't this student realised the need of HIMLAYAS ???

If everybody started running to himlayas, for meditation etc... than, rest is apart, who will take care for small childrens?, who will take care for old parents ? what about other reasonable wordly duties ?

Good point. It could also be that the master saw himself as interrupted in his precious meditation, got impatient with the stupid farmer and shouted at him just to get rid of him.

Lots of possibilities in a story that could be inspiring or not. All depends on how we take it.

Well if that were the case Xan,

we would not be calling him a Master.

It was the student who coveted the knowledge the Master had..

His ego had desire....

For the Master there is no "precious Meditation"
There simply is meditation

If he so coveted his meditation,
he would be on par with the Student

It's funny...
in this story there is a Master
and a student

And so many who read it....

want to change the story

and make the Master on par with the student....

If that were the case...
there would be no story here

What is the motivation of those who seek to change a very simple story...

to suppose upon the Master and student ideas that are not presented...

The story is simply what it is.....

One wonders what would occur if one was to encounter a real Master

Possibly your destined Teacher..

Would you put your egoic suppositions

upon his or her Clear motives

and lose a good Teacher..?

This is a simple story

and like all simple things..
it is also a Mirror....

Is what you see here a reflection of your soul?

Or your Ego....?

Xan

I took it to mean the guy on the hill was just sittin there but someone saw himself as 'student' and to validate that imposed the image of 'master' on the poor bloke who was just sittin there.

It works the other way round too.

He he, Gem.. Good Call..
In this case,
for THAT student......
that was true.

The dude on the Mountain was indeed a Master....
not that he'd call himself that......

But the "Student"....

was simply a Farmer
who desired the Peace and Power
that the Master had attained.

Did he not 'become' a farmer, after being dissatisfied with the 'cultivation' of enlightenment lol .........

he he..... I don't know....
personally I'm thinking my Path to Enlightenment lies in simply being a Farmer. But that's what we do to eat, to pay the bills I guess my path is in the art I do...
I've been through a lot of stages in this life.... Hard core every type of meditation you can imagine..... But now I'm coming to realize that chopping wood and carrying water..... plus doing my art and farming..... are my meditation.... It's kinda cool, don't have to set time aside for it anymore as..... it's ever present....
Well I gotta go chop some wood and warm up the house.....
Is it really June? Brrr

Oh power, yes I can see how desirable that is, but peace seems disturbed by such a desire now I want what I do not have... which reminds me, I gotta go to the local store and pick me up some coffee.

I was just thinking the same thing about Kombucha....
My water kefir got too alcoholic..
Need that fermented Kombucha...

We trade for all the food we don't raise or grow...
All good organic stuff...
We even scored a trade for All the Kombucha we want, but we didn't go to Market last week because our online store is keeping me soo busy.
Also finally got a connection to trade for all the mushrooms we can eat....
I love trading...
We each have 2 pairs of fitted elkskin mocs and sandals we traded for... all our clothes.... pretty sweet. But we ran out of the 2 gallons of kombucha we got the week b4 last, and we're Jonesing now..
But going in to town we try to only do once a week..... so....
I'll sip my water kefir.
And get back to work so we've got something to trade.

Jeff... I have true masters, as do you.

In my view any master who can't be questioned or challenged or teased is not at a level I would accept.

We would be foolish to blindly follow anyone just because he carries the title 'master'.

The master-student connection is too intimate and precious to be kept on a pedestal, if you know what I mean.
