This doesn't do anything to shed light on the people who are homeless not because of drugs and booze but because they have a criminal record or otherwise. Not everyone that's on the streets is there because of their addictions. Great video though.

In this video, I think the addictions are not necessarily the cause of homelessness, but that they have another underlying problem that causes self destructiveness. If I had to guess it's because our society is so heartless and it beats you down so hard, that some people just give up. I don't doubt that bad choices have something to do with it also, but it's also has to do with self esteem.

You do have a point, inspirit. One has to question too, if drugs is a contributor, what is causing these people to get caught up in the influence? Is the lack of opportunity? inequality, lack of affordability? In short, are people subject to depression because of these issues and seek drugs to numb that stress or pain.
You would be very interested to know, my city, has a very economically robust economy, it was voted twice by forbes the best place to raise a family, yet every year our homeless rate rises. Gentrification being a big problem. It's big interests pushing lower income earners out of their neighborhoods. Lots of different factors in homelessness
