Do plants feel pain?

I regularly post articles from my site on popular forums. So,one of the article which I posted was "Why humans are naturally herbivores?". There was a huge furor over this topic and i got lot of comments but none of the comments were compeltely true or seriously justifiable. One of the comments i got was "Plants also feel pain. So, even vegetarians are killers". I don't believe in one-liner statements since it can be misinterpreted or will not present a concise explanation. So, i wrote a whole article to remove the misconception that plants also feel pain

Check it out below:
Link removed for the following reason. Commercial Links: These are currently not permitted at SF, however there are several grey areas such as links to forums with free ads, these are ok, and donation buttons are also ok. If you post a link for your forum please return the favour and post one for SF in return. If your forum/website or link sells anything including psychic readings and the like, please do not post it as it will be removed. Persistent posting of the same link will be treated as spamming, one warning will be sent and if it continues a probable ban may be imposed.

Thanks

Pain is a part of life, no pain no gain, in other words, if we didn't eat something such as plants or animals, we would die.

what if they did feel pain....

how would you feel about eating them?

edit: no need to answer, just something to ponder within yourself.

Why is something more valid just because you are capable of using a lot of words? If you have walked into an ancient forest compared to a younger one (compared on the age of the beings that inhabit the forest like trees and not on the age the forest have been placed there) then it is quite evident, at least to those who can feel such energies, that there is a whole different kind of life. The way the plants and trees actually communicate with each other is quite amazing. Just because we might yet have discovered the science to describe it in a way we as humans can compare it to ourselves does not mean it is not real. Listen to the stories of those truly capable of perceiving this part of our world and maybe expand your reality. There actually is a thread on these forums of one who was warned by a tree not to climb it.

I did thought about it before writing the article and so in the article, i clearly stated even if the plants feel pain then also we should eat plants since their
pain is not percieved by humans eyes and ears...But like i explained in the article, their pain is out of question.
The intent of my article was to address unnecessary torture and murder of animals.
Also, Living without eating food is possible through yoga and meditation. Check below :

Links have been removed as they advertise "Amazon" ext. Those are commercial links an d not permitted on SF as advertising.

Sorry, i was not able to resist myself in answering you.

so you caught me, i only skimmed through your article, i missed that part.

i guess if not perceiving their pain makes you feel better, that is good.

i took a look at one of the articles.

You have to remember that plants are very simple organism compared to the human body, our nervous system is very complex and this maybe the reason we feel or can feel so much pain. But we must no be too silly and imagine everything we eat is screaming out in agony, gee, how many ants would we kill everyday just walking around minding our own business lol.

I like this here article: Plants Display Sentience and Social Behavior

This part is quite interesting: Apparently, Sagebrush will boost its immune system when exposed to clippings of a related plant. Could these plants be sending alarms or warning signals to each other? Possibly, but more research is needed to confirm anything. And it goes on to ask a valid question: I think the idea of plant sentience may put a whole new perspective on things for some people. It would seem that if plants are capable of the same things as animals (realization and communication), that eating a carrot would be no different than eating a chicken leg, as both come from beings that display awareness. It certainly gives you something to think about.

The odd thing for me is that you ask people to consider what you sense while not wishing to consider what other sentient beings sense (among those some humans with amazing skills). Should you not show the same kind of empathy towards others that you wish of them? I agree that we should not harm other beings in an unnecessary way, but some animals used for food get better lives than some plants used for food.

I tried to explain in all possible way and screaming was one of them..You should not be unwise in calling someone silly just by manipulating one or more statements from here and there. I was saying about unnecessary torture and killing of animals..Killing ants while driving or walking is accidental killing or natural killing..You do not kill them deliberately.
