Today I started looking around online at WW1 helmets, in hopes to find one that looked like the one I saw in my PL flashback.
There were quite a few that looked similar, but this one is the one that looks most like it. Though I was only seeing it from the top/back as it was resting on a comrades neck/back of head~ (I apparently can't post links, even for pictures, so take this, add http and take out the spaces)

Back when I had my first PL flashback I had the very faint thought/feeling of a river, but I assumed it was something that I'd perhaps misremembered or made up, like grasping at straws, but I've just discovered the 3rd Infantry Division (including the 7th Machine Gun Battalion) fought at the
Marne River in France!
I feel like this is all far from coincidence!
I hope I can find out much more!
