I have had the 3 of swords consistently today.. not good.. trying to see how it can come through..

this sounds like some emotional pain... still... if you read all the good things we wrote about the 3 of swords: when letting go of the old and of not good use any more, painful as it may be, you make room for new things in your life, and the 5 of cups asks you to notice not what you lost but what you allready have and not lose those as well as you ponder into sadness and pain.

spiritual path may help heal the pain... but it can't be a run away to sort of thing...

Greetings Everyone:
I always read the V of Cups as, "Something lost and something gained.".
IMO--in its own way it is very similar to the III of Swords and (when paired w/ it)--I feel it is a gentle reminder to do exactly as Green said and count your blessings.
"A bird in the hand--is worth two in the bush.", as my Grandmother always said. I believe that when one door closes--it will only lead us to something better.

they do have some similarities the 3 of swords and the 5 of cups.
both i guess will correlate nicely with the tower - nop?
just thinking out laud here..which other cards will join the gang :)

I see the 5 cups as letting go of friendships/ties that have run there cause (the 3 cups that have been knocked over ) and the two cups still standing are friends. family or contacts that are still relevant in your life, the two cups can allso symbolize a soul mate, lover, or very close friend that bings joy, opposite to the 3 swords, being a breack up/seperation that brings sorrow.
