Rocky Springs
there is a place about an hour drive southwest of where i live. it is called Rocky Springs. this land was once inhabited by the natchez indians, evident from the nearby "mounds" these people left behind. there is a long creek, very shallow clear water, surrounded by vast forest. i have always camped there. walking this creek has always been one of the most serine activities i have found. these woods feel "charged" with calm, simple..... tranquility. theres nothing like it. my father introduced me to this place as a small child. when he "passes", he would like his ashes spread there....

Hi Blair,
I'm glad you have this place where you can go. Its important to have a haven nearby where one can regain ones sanity and recharge.
It's probably even more special because you used to go there as a child with your parents and it was your Dad who introduced you to it.
There are a few places like that around here, in Oxfordshire UK, that are special to me. They are special because they are beautiful, spiritual, and have associations with my childhood and parents.
Nature is beautiful!
Cheers, Honza.

Awesome!
Blair2Be this is awesome most Indian tribes lived near the river. This is a beautiful place you have shared with us. My Granny use to tell me each tree has a whisperer, so the same for plants, flowers, etc....... I'd like to think when you visit this place, the life forms there recognize you from a small spirit (which is one of our pure forms). I believe they are just as comfortable with you, as you are being there with them.
I Love good memories!
Love

that is the most comforting thing i have heard in so long cweiters!
you are a treasure :) it made me think of the river beds i used to play around when i was a child and the attachment i feel to the southern alps and lakes in mackenzie county in the south island of NZ. it makes me a bit teary to think that those trees would recognise me back.
it looks like such a beautiful place blair!
