In my discipline programming competitions are a chance to network and create opportunity. Art shows are competitions, shows like Americas got Talent are competitions, without these competitions people would have less incentive and less opportunity to develop their talents and abilities.

Good point. Not sure that's how competition works when it comes to sports though. It's a billion dollar entertainment industry and has little to do with with bettering humanity.

intramural sports within universities don't seem to be corrupted. But the inter collegiate sports seem to be getting corrupted.

Yes, they have hyper-dimension ball. Tickets are expensive i hear, but the athletes slam dunk Spiritual enlightenment right in your face! So the price is probably worth it.

Plus they have hockey. It is a magical place where the Vancouver Canucks always win the Stanely Cup, and never break your heart in the 7th game of the finals. *sniff sniff* -Ahem. Excuse me. Something in my eye, plus i have a cold.

If you think that there is sport then sport you'll have. If you think that there is a train to catch, you'll catch it. It's a dimension of mind. Personally I want to have earned enough in this life to be in a spot where I'm not computing sports or trains.
