lol... I used to be able to whistle really well but... something's changed 'cause I cant' anymore. Just air comes out. lol

Ok. Buffalo Dance. Question:
When this dance is performed, are they actually creating a hunt by creating the reality of a hunt rather than just thinking about the hunt to come? I believe Native American ceremonies can actually manipulate reality same as when they pray rain, not pray for rain, for example.

If this is secret, it's ok if you're not allowed to talk about this.

Very much like the European Cunning Folk in that respect.

If PKzip is still floating around for free, you can compress that puppy quite nicely.

I'd also love a copy. My daughter is part native american from her dad's side. I might be also, my dad's family ended up in Nebraska in the late 1800s.

Cunning Folk did/do have weather control as part of their skill-set. Whistling - bit of that too.

In my tribe it was indeed "manifesting" for a prosperous hunt. You have to remember that though we had trackers, we couldn't always be where the buffalo were. And, we weren't always certain to get kills.

The dance was to thank the Great Spirit as well as saying "Please...." lol It was also seen as "is going to be prosperous" which is why they simulated the hunt in the dance. :) It was also done to keep our warriors safe (many a buffalo killed a man in a hunt)

Good question though! Many years since I've thought about my teachings as a girl :)

Oh thank you. This is talked about in the Affirmations thread, as well. I'm trying to wrap my head around it all. Something within me knows it's so but, has also forgotten. I'll bet there were a lot injured and killed. I've seen bison up close and they're powerful and very aware.

In Yellowstone, I meant to take a pic of one who was walking alongside the road as we passed by slowly in the car. When I lifted my camera to snap him, he raised his head and let me know, "NO!" I put down my camera without what would have been a great shot. He continued eating grass. They are amazing animals and I shall never forget him.

You received teachings from your elders then? That's wonderful. Anything you would be willing to share would be interesting to me.
