In the Courtyard

Soft strains of lyric harmony
Waft through the courtyard green
Played for the ears of Pharaoh
To help him feel soul dreams.

Such light of love's deep countenance
Ahmsa plays his heart by ear,
To lighten the great burdens
Remind him joy is near.

Living music sings inside
The dreams of all wise men;
And harmonies therein abide
That keep the tune of Heaven.

‘Tis love that is Great Comforter,
The heart within our breast
A mighty instrument to play
Beats Love out loud, unguessed.

'Twas soul the first musicians prayed
And down from fiery heights
Blew sound so sweet it burned to complete
Ecstasy’s communion in paradise.

Alas, the old world will roar
Love’s freedom to deny
Making of time a prison
we must dream ourselves free to fly.

Yet Time brings a gift for all pharaohs
Who ancient cycles brought round
And now our hearts can remember the love
Once buried in silent soul sound.

Long ago when Ahmsa played
It was her only wish
To lighten Thothmes’ burdens
And tune his realm to bliss.

And today it's just the same
For all who meet their flames
Sound your love unconditional
And memory will sing soul's refrain.

Wow, this is an awesome poem which beautifully captures the atmosphere of a Pharoah's royal residence and the romantic love he experienced there with a female musician.
