Why colony on Mars, if the earth live well?

a just watched a documentary on the possibility of sending people to mars, 1/It is a trip of about 7 months, you need a group that is able to cope with being cooped up together, no walking in the garden no getting away from each other.
2/ the long term effects of zero gravity like muscle wasting, 3/ shielding from radiation, and solar flares. 4/everything will have to be recycling , 5/ and even if they get to mars then there is no way back.

The works of Zecharia Sitchin (translated and researched over a life from the ancient sumerian tablets at the British Museum and elsewhere) have a lot to say about what "those who from the heavens came down" were doing on both earth and Mars. Veeeeerrrry interesting indeed.

In sum:
Interestingly --a recurring theme with humanity it seems -- the reason for their interstellar exploration was their destruction of their atmosphere and the need to mine vast quantities of gold (which earth had). The gold was to be vapourised and suspended into the upper atmosphere for protective purposes.

In order to accomplish their task on such a large scale (involving further processing at a way station on Mars with a contigent of men sent there), they found they needed to utilise the manpower of the primitive hominid species currently on earth around 400,000 to 500,000 years ago. With test tube fertilisation over several generations, they were able to essentially hasten our evolution and mold our genetic material into their own with a few key differences.

These differences in the main being our lack of longevity and also our lack of natural male circumcision, as they were born without foreskins and were surprised to note that males here were. Aside from that, we were somewhat smaller on average otherwise were identical in capabilities and cognizance potential. This greatly pleased the chief scientists, who looked on us as their children -- and it greatly disturbed the chief administrator, who was furthermore disgusted at the rate of our reproduction and the ever-present sound of copulation.

Of course, many of the rank-and-file in the contingent had no wives and thus partnered off with earth females as soon as we were "fully human" and became attractive to them. The Mars contingent was initially without women and specifically came back to demand earth wives, and got them, and then returned to Mars. Until...??? It's not clear...because the cuneiform focuses more on the political aspects and the personal lives of these leaders or "gods". But anyway, that's the story in cuneiform per Z. Sitchin.
