Telescoping effect and time perception

Hello guys!
Quote:
In cognitive psychology, the telescoping effect (or telescoping bias) refers to the temporal displacement of an event whereby people perceive recent events as being more remote than they are and distant events as being more recent than they are.

I think I have this. Good years like for example the 90's to me appear to be closer in my mind, like just yesterday. But my dark, bad years of depression in high school and my early 20's seem more distant (2004- mid 2013). Are there any other people that perceive things the same way? And it's not limited to good vs bad events, August this year was nice but to me it seems like it was ages ago, like a little kid would perceive. Is my mind becoming younger or what? They say older people perceive past months as just yesterday, while little kids perceive them as long ago. I've heard little children to refer to something that happened hours ago as 'long before'.

Hi,

I think it's all about perception. I sense you are a positive person so you attract the same, both in your environment and also in your own collection of thoughts. So your happy memories are closer to you than unhappy memories. I don't know really - just my thought.
