Hello there fellow musicians or even lovers of music!

I would very much appreciate it if anyone would share with the world some of your music or even just a song that inspires, spurs you on, motivates you or you just enjoy!

There are so many talented people out there and i would love to hear any of your music that you feel could inspire others with or perhaps brighten somebodies day with!

Though i have nothing of my own songs recorded at this moment, i will in time. I would love to hear your music or songs that inspire you, motivate you or fill you with a sense of joy.

I play the piano but I am nowhere near good enough to compose my own. I started learning when I was 40 years old and although I have passed my grade 5, I now play the pieces I like rather than those on a syllabus.

I used to sing in several choirs as a young girl, and today I am singing in a church choir again.

I have composed a couple choir songs myself, but they probably aren't that great, lol... have them on paper and parts in denemo (free notation program).

What an interesting thread.

I LOVE music. I have always loved it since I was a toddler and used to dance to Johann Strauss "Radetsky March". I have always preferred classical, with a few exceptions along the way which are whimsical.

But for classical:

Check out Sibelius 5th symphony movement 4.
That is indescribable.
Mozart Requiem.... Immortal.
J.S. Bach -double violin concerto
Chopin piano concerto no 2 movement 2.
Chopin nocturnes (preferably played by Maurizio Pollini)
Beethoven 7th symphony, and "Pastorale" symphony (no.6).
Rachmaninov -the Isle of the Dead
Anything by Einaudi
Have to stop there or I'll be listing stuff all night.

In the 1970s I used to sing Russian songs professionally. Nothing like that lot above then! haha "Kalinka" and all that jazz.....

Something happened yesterday that I thought it was worth making a note of. An acquaintance of mine sent me a link to a song on Youtube. That in itself would always move me because as you might or might not know I am connected to music, words and poetry in a strong way in this lifetime. I was going to say I'm connected for some reason but I thought the reasons why I am born to love lyrics and melodies unfolds as I live my life.

It's obvious in itself that Lyrical creations within instrumental frameworks are in themselves uplifting, healing, insightful and cathartic but its also worth taking note of that our own lives often unfold like a song or songs. So I suppose there is that sense of a song within a song perhaps going on. When my rational mind has taken over, and I'm stuck inside my head to any degree, being placed in front of a song lets say that has emotional resonance in the form of sadness or deep joy makes me tear up immediately and cry often. So as i have said before a few times on Sf forums ..tears don't lie ... When i did say that I felt a bit awkward and also thought perhaps its a bad thing to be moved like that by music. But today my faith has grown a little and i know when that happens it is confirming something within me and to me that the heart has a complete set of intuitive emotional responses that are not always inside the realms of lets say rationality. The tears of the heart are a language waiting to be expressed. I am just amazed that we as human beings can be touched like this. Its so mysterious as well. Artists with very diverse musical styles and so on ..strike a chord and something is spoken that we cannot quite understand with our rational mind.

Thank you for allowing me to express this. I would like to explore it a bit further in my own creations of songs and music and just as a philosophical thought too. The Song my acquaintance/friend sent me was a song by the Artist John Hiatt. I got to listen to him recently and hadn't listened to any of his work throughout my life. The song was called The River Knows Your Name I listened to the song without knowing who the Artist was so when I saw it was John Hiatt at the end of the song I wasn't surprised it was him. A magnicient song expressing his unique approach to song itself. You could play the first 3 notes of Lou Reed, Dylan, Van the man and I would probably know it was them and know the song too but because I hadn't listened to John Hiatt throughout my life it was an amazing experience. A really lovely surprise. Anyway thanks again for letting me express myself. Your friend Joe.
