Gem. Thank you also. I was taught The Old Masters technique when I learnt to paint and subtle shading is part of that. Takes a good while to perfect tho.

Awww AngelB that is so nice of you.
As I’ve said before I’ve been drawing faces since i was kid and somehow it always came easy to me. When I asked Sparrow about where this talent came from he said ide engaged in it at the soul level in spirit. Sure does make sense to me.
But I gotta say, whilst faces are easy, I find landscapes difficult. I’ve only done a couple and they just don’t seem to flow for me. A lot of the time I just give up half way cos I’m not enjoying myself and they just don’t seem to become what I want them to become. So I’ve always stuck with portraits.
I did enter a portrait into a competition a few years ago and won it which was a big surprise to me as I didn’t expect it. The only reason I entered the competition was because I needed the winning prize which was $1500 to pay my rates. Usually I don’t bother with these kinds of things and haven’t done since.
