Yes I have experienced that very same thing in full conscious awareness, and it appears to be the subtle 'body' which is doing the seeing. Of course, without that conscious awareness, it could also be dreaming.

From what I've learned is that you're not quite looking through your closed eyelids. What you're seeing is what you believe to be your immediate surroundings.

I came to this realization when I used to meditate on the train ride each morning into work. The train would arrive at Union Station in Toronto and I would wait a bit for the train to clear out before I actually left. Well, during that short period of time, I'd close my eyes and meditate and end up seeing things going on around me. Those things I "saw" when my eyes were closed weren't actually the things which were physically going on around me, but they were my perception of what COULD or MIGHT potentially be what was going on around me.

It's, in essence, you creating a duplicate reality based mostly around what you believe your environment is. From this, I can also extrapolate that what people call the "real time zone" also functions in much the same way.

I call this psychic visioning. It's basically viewing with the third eye instead of the two in front of our face.
I've played with this lots, once on a drive across the USA describing what I saw eyes closed to the driver who was able to verify everything.
Useful talent!

im so happy that im not the only one this happens to,
ive had this as long as i can remember, but only three or four months ago realized i could control it, by turning my vision without actually turning my head,
i believe it to be one of the first steps towards astral projection, the reason being, for me of course, is that since i set my intention of astral no matter what, this vision seemed to get "stronger" and i can now see in what appears to be 180!
also if im "seeing" a corridor, with steps, i can actually feel my body stepping down stairs and running my hands along the bannister,
all this being said, its only a theory, because as of yet i havent got out of my body!

kind regards

in astral projection circles this is often called astral vision and as soon as you try to focus (as you would with physical eyes) it often ends.

this is different than the vision screen, which also requires closed eyes but you're not seeing through them, we see inanimate objects and faces, generally, which are not in the room

this is also different from etheric vision, which requires that the eyes be fully open and awake.

cheers!

what else you got?
