Growing slowly in the sun
It requires nurture
It requires patience
In the rich earth a sprout has blossomed
A bubble of calm in this busy world
Taking in every solitary moment
Its roots are deep and vast
Walls of ice cold steel
Built to protect the heart
It takes hold
It latches on
It never lets go
Despite adversity
When winter arrives and the days turn gray
And the earth turns cold
When all others wither away
I remain to grow another day
It envelops you
Knows you
Feels you

Some stories are meant to be forgotten
Scars turn black and blue
Frightening as it may be

I have many branches
Many faces
